Fall 2016 CUE Conference – The Power of Connection

Labor and Employee Relations issues continue to dominate headlines. This is your last chance to get ready before the election!

The NLRB just made employee misclassification an unfair labor practice, which could create a much higher risk exposure for any employment claim you face in the future. The Fight for $15 just held another nation-wide labor action.

The AFL-CIO has the largest team of organizers they’ve ever assembled in North Carolina right now to do house visits to talk organizing and turn out the vote door-to-door.

Organizing activity seems to be picking up with in recent weeks including drivers at XPO Logistics in Illinois just filed for an election for Teamster representation, a pair of UAW wins at auto suppliers in Tennessee and Michigan, workers at a KFC/Taco Bell in Canada, and cafeteria workers at Intel’s Santa Clara headquarters voted to join Unite Here Local 19 last week.

We’re putting the finishing touches on the conference in Dallas and we have sessions planned to help you respond to these issues effectively. The special room block pricing closes on Friday, so if you haven’t registered and booked yet, now is the time!

Here’s a preview of what we’ve got in store for you:

Sunday: Start the conference by attending one of our popular Industry discussion groups, Ask the Experts about your top labor relations questions, and for some extra learning (and certification credits) join Gerry Fernandez for a pre-conference workshop on Improving Employee Relations by Attracting and Engaging Multicultural Employees.

Monday: Our expert panel will break down “Clinton v. Trump”: How the election will impact your business, then you’ll learn about the steps you need to take when the phone rings unexpectedly and you are dealing with crisis communications during a labor event, hear about the special nuances of managing in a company with both union and union free environments, and much more.

Tuesday: Lean into the future as we discuss “The working world of tomorrow: AI and robotics and its impact on the workplace” at an early bird session featuring Dr. Gerlind Wisskerchen and a speaker for General Electric. We’ll get an update from NLRB member Phil Miscimarra and what may be headed our way for the rest of 2016, hear case studies from Uber and Walmart. A panel of experts will share the secret prescription for Maintaining a Healthy Workplace, and then go international with a labor update from Canada. We’ll wrap the conference with an evening of networking at the City Club Dallas.
