Trump to meet with former S.C. secretary of labor
Here’s a great example of how CUE helps members stay on the cutting edge. One of our speakers from Dallas, Catherine Templeton, who led the state health department under Gov. Nikki Haley and also was a labor lawyer with the management-side firm Ogletree Deakins is reportedly jumping into the 2018 race for governor in the state of South Carolina.
And according to a report from Politico Pro, her name is also being floated as a potential Secretary of Labor in the Trump Administration.
President-elect Donald Trump will meet today with Catherine Templeton, the former labor secretary for South Carolina, according to his transition team.
Templeton was appointed by Gov. Nikki Haley in 2010 and served in the state Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation for one year. In 2011, the Machinists sued Haley and Templeton over public remarks Haley made suggesting that Templeton was appointed to oppose unionization, particularly at a Boeing plant in North Charleston.
